Holy Cow's Social Media Lunch & Learn

Thanks to all those who attended and to Chris Burdge of bWEST Interactive for sharing his knowledge of social media. He touched on a little bit of everything like Facebook, Google Analytics, Twitter, Groupons and controlling it all using Hootsuite. Looking forward to playing with some of the new toys he discussed. After the presentation we gave out a few "social pillows" from Throwboy - the winners were - Jenny from Island Farms, Colleen from the Office of the Auditor General, Eileen and Joelle from the Saanich Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, Karen and Lesley from the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation, Colette from the Sidney Pier Hotel, Denis & Brenda from the Sidney Waterfront Inn & Spa and last but not least Ian from Vantreight Farms.

Update: The Men of Movember

Just a quick update on how everyone is doing. As you can see (surprisingly) we actually have facial hair. Some of us are a little patchier than others, but nevertheless, our staches are comin' in strong! On side note, Mountain Man Coward started a week ago and has already surpassed Simon and me. I think he's been eating Chia-Pet fertilizer for breakfast or something.

If you would like to help out and make a donation to the cause, you can click here which will bring you to our team page, the Chevron Kings!

A Gentleman's Mustache Manifesto ; {

Well, it's the month of November already! You know what that means? Time to break out the Mo! The guys here at Holy Cow are sportin' the upper lip apparel to show our support in the fight against Prostate Cancer. 1 in 6 men in Canada are diagnosed with this deadly disease every year. Not good. We've started a team—the Chevron Kings—and have registered it on the Movember website, where you can donate to help find a cure. If you are so inclined, you can also get involved by signing up with us to help raise awareness and donations. The more the merrier!

We're not the only ones getting involved for this awesome cause. Mayfair is giving away gift cards for the most stylish mustache. You can check it out on their facebook page here.

How To Use Foursquare Effectively For Your Small Business

Ran across a very useful article for small businesses wanting to take advantage of foursquare to interact with their clientele. Some great tips to help businesses jump right in.

"...Even if your business is tiny, jumping into the location-based fray is quicker and easier than you might think. If you’re tempted to write this off as the next fast-burning web candle, consider this: Your competitors are signing up even as you read this."

You can check the article out here.

New member to the team

Introducing Simon Miles, design extraordinaire! We don't want to give too much away just yet—you can check back later for a full bio—but a few things you might not know about him: Simon loves long walks on the beach, paragraph styles, white space, and small type. All good things! We think he'll fit in well here.

On a side note. The photos used in this post were actually taken on an iPhone with the Hipstamatic app. Just pick your choice of lens, film, and flash and say cheese! Pretty neat.
